Fred Whitton Challenge · 2 February 2005

Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust funds scientific and clinical research into childhood and adult brain tumours, and offers support and information to patients and their carers. We have been working to improve understanding, diagnosis and treatment of brain tumours since the charity was set up in 1996 by Samantha's parents, Neil and Angela Dickson. We now spend around £1.3 million per year on brain tumour research and support, making us the largest brain tumour charity in the UK.

Story

Well I completed the challenge in 6 hours and 50 minutes. I have put a write up of the ride on our website at http://www.easterleycycling.org.uk/news.html#fredwhitton05

I would like ot thanks all of those who sponsored but if you haven;t and would still like to do so then donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure and is the most efficient way to sponsor me.
The Samantha Dickson Research Trust (Astro Fund) will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

I wdid the the ride in memory of Molly Swann who was the President of the Women's Cycle Racing Association and a former president of my own cycling club - the Easterley Road Club (www.easterleycycling.org.uk). She sadly passed away recently after having a brain tumour for the past year.

The ride is a 107 mile route covering all the main passes in the Lake District and is probably the hardest ride of this distance in the country. You can view the route and profile at www.bikeit.eclipse.co.uk/fw/index.htm .
Thanks again
