Story
Hello and thank you for visiting my 2010 Fuchs Foundation Antarctic Expedition Justgiving page.
My name is Lisa Wood and I am a Primary Science Advanced Skills Teacher at Kaizen Primary School in Newham, East London. In November 2010, myself and three other teachers will be leaving behind the chilly London weather to go and spend 5 weeks camping in isolated locations in the even chillier climate of Antarctica! The reason? To create teaching resources and carry out educational science research that will help inspire a generation of future scientists. It's going to be a tough slog but very worthwhile!
Sir Vivian Fuchs showed a generation of school children a sense of curiosity, self reliance, self determination and challenge. So as Science and Geography are perceived as dull subjects and hard work, the Fuchs Foundation wishes to challenge this perception and recreate in young people the sense of excitement, adventure, and the thirst for knowledge.
Trips to the Antarctic however do not come cheap and we need to raise an awful lot of money (we're talking a five figure sum)! As such, any sponsorship donations you may be able to give today would be greatly appreciated. If you or your company would be interested in becoming a major sponsor and having your logo on equipment, websites and publicity events please contact me at lisahwood@hotmail.co.uk
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Fuchs Foundation gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
Big thanks, Lisa x
