Story

Hello! Firstly, thank you for donating money to The Brooke Hospital for Animals - they appreciate it! The Brooke isn't just an animal charity; it's a people charity too. It helps equines and their owners in poorer countries, places where the people rely on their horses and donkeys for survival. If their donkey is injured, those people cannot earn money, or feed their family, and they suffer greatly. The Brooke's aim is to teach these people how to look after their animals, and to train members of the community in equine care. A lot of the problem is ignorance - people believe that beating, whipping, or starving their animals will make them work harder, and they are left without water or shade for days in desert tempeartures. There is also problems with disease and infections, due to lack of veterinary supplies. A little money goes a long way with the Brooke though!

Anyway. I'm running the Brighton Marathon for the Brooke - I chose the charity because they are not very well known amongst the non-horsey folk [and they're awesome!], and it would be wonderful to give them the recognition they deserve. I'm also horsey myself, so it's a cause close to my heart. Horses are beautiful, intelligent creatures, and my own horse had a huge role in helping me recover from a nasty illness. I'm really excited to be raising money for them - and I'm excited to run this marathon! - so thank you for supporting me.
