Story

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page in aid of Breast Cancer Care.

Since we learnt that Tamsyn had breast cancer in February 2009 our friends and family have been amazingly supportive and a number of them have expressed a desire to raise some money for a charity of Tamsyn's choice.  Pat & Beth Hudson suggested we pool everyone's efforts - so here we are.

Choosing a charity was difficult as there are so many worthy causes relating to breast cancer.  Later in the year we will be raising money for the Jane Ashley Unit at the Oxford Churchill Hospital as a personal thank you for the care and support they gave us in February and we would like a second cause to benefit from our fundraising friends!

During the past few weeks there has been so much to take in.  The resources provided by Breast Cancer Care have greatly helped us to absorb all the information and to provide knowledge and guidance as we go into the unknown and we would like our friends to help raise money for them to continue providing these services for others.

*UPDATE* 07 May 2009 - In little over a month we pushed through the target of £1000 yesterday with only 1 fundraising event down so we have decided to stretch our target to £2000.  Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far.  Tamsyn and I are overwhelmed at how quickly people have shown their generosity.  Hopefully we can push on for the new target.

*UPDATE* 19 June 2009 - After a superb coillection by Ken Wymer we've broken through our second target of £2000.  Thanks again for everyone who is contributing towards out fundraising efforts.  With a couple of events still remaining we've lifted the target to £2500.

Who's doing what...?

Pat Hudson has vounteered to use his entry in this year's London Marathon to raise money for us in April.

*UPDATE* Pat completed the marathon in 3 hours 11 minutes and 19 seconds.  Not quite under the 3 hour mark but a personal best all the same.  Pat has managed to raise about £250 from colleagues at the Bentley Quality Department and friends at his running club, the South Cheshire Harriers.  Thanks go to Pat and all who sponsored him.

Pat's wife, Beth Hudson, has also caught the running bug and will be running her first ever 10k at the Oxford Town & Gown Race in May.  Dan has decided to join her too!

*UPDATE* In the wind and rain of Oxford Beth completed the 10k in 1hour 4 minutes and 10 seconds.  A brilliant effort for her first attempt at a 10k.

Dan's Dad, Ken Wymer, has decided to let his hair and beard grow while Tamsyn is having her treatments and is looking for sponsorship to get his head shaved to a "number 1" and to shave off his beloved beard!

*UPDATE* The sponsorship money has all been collected and Ken raised an amazing £750 thanks to his colleagues at Stewart Milne Timber Systems as well as family and friends.

Dan's brother, James Wymer, and his BT Colleagues, are going to do a sponsored bike ride to the Churchill Hospital in September.  More details to come soon!

Kim Mortimer, Tamsyn's cousin, is doing a sponsored slim and will donate for every pound lost over the coming months.

Mark Jacobs is running the Edinburgh Marathon on 31 May and though initially hadn't intended to raise money for charity has volunteered to collect sponsorship for our cause.

*UPDATE* Despite the heat and Mark suffering cramp he still got round in 3h34m and raised a superb £240.

Keep watching this page for updates on who else has volunteered to do something to raise money.  Please donate what ever you can afford.

Thank you so much for your support,

Dan Wymer & Tamsyn Honour
