Story
Hi there
Ive decided to try and raise a bit of money for charity - so this trip is not solely hedonistic.
Charity of choce is the David Shepherd Foundation which tries to help wildlife which seems appropriate for this trip. David Shepherd is an accomplished English wildlife artist. His paintings of elephants in Africa are simply superb.
So far on thi trip I have cycled about 1000 miles, not sure how much further I{m riding though.
The picture is from my 2006 Mexico is Magic trip. There I cycled about 1400 miles through Baja California, Oaxaca state and Chiapas. It was taken by a tour guide who stopped in his car for the view ike me. I was pretty beat on route from San Cristobel de les Casas tp Palenque, so I asked him what it was like to Agua Azul, the waterfall where I was stopping that day. "All down from here he said cheerfully". I breathed a sigh of relief. But then he said, memorably for me, - "Oh no, one small mountain!".
A few days later I reached Merida, where I met a couple of guys from Oz and the US. "Oh you are the guy on the bike". Apparently they had been on a bus which went past me and I had sparked a debate on the bus over what nationality I was. They said everyone had agreed I nust be Gernan or Norwegian to be crazy enough to ride through the mountains in the high heat and humidity. Not sure if that is good or bad!
Anyway, if anyone can contribute a little, I would be very pleased.
Thanks
Chris
