Great Wall of China Trek 2017 · 12 October 2017 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

In October 2017, me and my dad will be travelling to China, for a 6 day trek along the Great Wall of China. This will be to help raise money for the Alzheimer's society. For people who know me and my family, you will now that this cruel disease has taken the life of my beautiful Grandad. And my Grandma, who was once a strong independent woman, is now facing everyday life with Alzheimer's. As a family we have received exceptional support from the Alzheimer's society. From the death of my Grandad, to my Grandma being having diagnosed with Alzheimer's, to them giving my Grandma the support she needs. We are hoping to raise £10,000. This disease has no mercy, There is no way to control it, Let alone a cure. This is just our personal story. We know that Alzheimer's effects a lot of people in a lot of different ways.
