Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.  Please take the time to read our stories and why we have taken on a huge challenge to jump out of a plane in memory of three special people.

At 84 years old, just after Christmas 2015 our Poppa was diagnosed with Bowel, Liver and Lung cancer.  Unfortunately it was all too late to treat and he was told that he may only have 6 months to live.  Little did we know that it would be a lot less than that.

After taking every day in his stride with his wife at his bed side, on April the 4th he very peacefully slipped away.  While at times our Nan was exhausted from taking care of him the McMillan nurses were always there to support her!  They gave her all the help and care that they BOTH needed.

Amelia's story: In loving support of my dearest Dad

4 years ago my Dad was diagnosed with bowel cancer but after a rough few months he was given the all clear.  In February 2016 after a routine check-up, he found out the cancer had returned and spread, he now has a very rare form of cancer which unfortunately is very hard to treat.  I am so proud of what this man has overcome and in return I would like to show my respects by raising as much money as I can for the TRUST that have and will be there every step of the way!

Not just for the support that he needs but also for the family too!  I cannot thank McMillan enough for giving the help that families need at such hard times.  So me and my cousin are going to throw ourselves out of a plane!

Emily's story: In loving memory of my Nanny Barbara

In addition to Poppa, I am doing this courageous act in memory of my Nanny Barbara who sadly lost her battle to lung cancer at the early age of 53. Her deepest regret was to not see her grandchildren grow up. She had so much to live for and looking forward to retirement which she never got the chance. Such a brave woman who was an inspiration to us all. I aim to make her proud in everything I do and would of loved to see me doing this for charity (although she hated heights!)
