This September I'll be doing the Great North Run to raise money for Niemann-Pick UK who promote awareness and make a difference for those affected by these rare and degenerative metabolic disorders.  

I  met my good friend Louise from NPUK just a year after the very first GNR 40 years ago and am thrilled to be able to help support and raise money for the important work the charity does. I am hoping to raise £500 and will be running alongside my sister Katherine who is running her first ever half marathon also raising money for Neimann-Pick.

Neimann-Pick diseases are are a group of rare and devastating inherited metabolic disorders that can affect both children and adults.  NPUK are dedicated to supporting the individuals, families and friends affected by these conditions.  NPUK offers practical and emotional support, provides information and strives to raise further awareness of the diseases in the hope of facilitating research and potential therapies.  

Please help my friend Louise and her colleagues at NPUK to help families affected by this devastating condition. Your donation will help NPUK provide the specialist care and support that families need to make a positive difference during the most difficult of times. 

Whilst I left the north-east over 30 years ago we all agree every Geordie should try the GNR at least once.  I remember at the tender age of 10 back in primary school painting as many runners as we could in one afternoon as part of a freeze that spanned the 4 walls of our classroom depicting that very first GNR in 1981.  We regularly cheered runners along the Felling Bypass close to our home in Gateshead.  I'm really excited to be taking part here in 2021 40 years later.
