Story
This year is the first Christmas I will spend with my family since I left Bolivia thirteen years ago. So it is a special one, I'm going with the boys and we are really looking forward to give the hugs to those we love the most.
To make it more special and because more than ever before we are in real need to join forces to raise funds for the areas of work where many migrant women including and Latin American women are struggling to get support.
So I will be running 5k at highest salt flats in the world which happens to be in my beautiful home country Bolivia.
The Salar de Uyuni is the world's largest salt flat at 10,582 square kilometers (4,086 sq mi). It is located in the Daniel Campos Province in Potosí in southwest Bolivia, near the crest of the Andes and is at an altitude of 3,656 meters (11,995 ft) above sea level.
Fascinating fact: Back in 2010, Bolivia discovered that beneath this wonderful salt flats, it contains 60% of the world's reservoir of Lithium- the world’s lightest metal, used in batteries that power everything from smartphones to electric cars. The Salar de Uyuni holds around 5.4 million tons of the world’s total 11 million.
Anything you can donate will be much much appreciated. All donations will go to LAWRS, the charity that is bringing thousands of Latin American women and their children out of poverty in the UK.
The run will be the week before Christmas, it will depend on transport to get there. It is only a 5k because I the oxygen gets tough up there!
Thanks very much, please pass the link to those who might want to sponsor my run
Muchas gracias!
Claudia
