Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit the JustGiving page of Team Scunthorpe United.

We are delighted to be working even closer with Prostate Cancer UK as our kit sponsors this season 2015/16.

We will be participating yet again in the Football to Amsterdam Cycle Challenge. We have three respresentatives for Scunthorpe United this year.

Assistant Club Secretary, Adam Grice, will be joined by Nathan Skidmore and Mick Roden in representing The Iron at Prostate Cancer UK's Football to Amsterdam Challenge 2016.

Adam and Mick are taking part in the challenge for the second time. Adam represented the Iron in 2015 alongside Wayne Johnson, while Mick was United's solo cyclist in 2014. Nathan is making his debut in the charity event.

Our Yorkshire tour begins at Oakwell, the home of League One Barnsley, with the destination for day one 70 miles away in Hull.

Day One will see the riders cycle South East our of the South Yorkshire town and along the beautiful Dearne Valley, across agricultural areas and quiet roads heading north around Doncaster and over the wash and into Hull for the finish before boarding the overnight Ferry for the overnight journey to Holland.

If you wish to see us on our journey, stop off points will be later confirmed.

Once arriving in Rotterdam for Day Two we will disembark the Ferry to begin the final leg of the journey; 74 miles North to Ajax Stadium, Amsterdam.

Day Two is slightly less arduous and affords you the time to get to know your group and form a real team spirit as you journey through the Netherlands on flat non hilly cycle tracks. You cycle straight into Amsterdam over canal after canal to finish at the famous Ajax Stadium.

We would appreciate all your support for our team and this fantastic charity. Prostate Cancer is the most common cancer in men. Over 44,000 men are diagnosed with Prostate Cancer every year - that is more than 120 every single day.

Lets fight back and continue this journey to raise awareness and support Prostate Cancer to help more men survive and aid a better quality of life!
