Helping Hearts and battling Cancer !

While recently celebrating my 80th birthday, and still in reasonably 'good nick' I reluctantly realised that after many, many years of sailing, climbing back into a swamped dinghy was becoming somewhat problematical.
So....I bought, on ebay of course, a Recumbent Trike !!

What fantastic fun !  Slower up but a BLAST down !!

Looking for more of a challenge I searched for 'Events' and thought about charities.
The annual British Heart Foundation South Wales Bike Ride looked a great way to start. Nearly 50 miles of Welsh hills...maybe not ( yet ) about 12...definately not yet..just less than 30 ? lets go for it.

I also felt an urge to pay back a bit  to Ward 10 ( cancer ) Withybush Hospital where  Graham, my brother, was so well cared for.  The Ward sister immediately put me in touch with Elly,s Ward 10 Flag appeal...up and running with the aim of making the ward more comfortable, homely.....for patients, families and visitors...

So, again...on Sunday 17th July I will join maybe 1000 others in Swansea...please...stay dry !!

I do hope you feel able to support either or both of these GREAT causes ! ( and encourage me on to another ride...coast to coast Hadrians Wall ride ?! um )
