Milly's Smiles provides a Holdall Bag, known as a Milly Bag for all children who have been newly diagnosed with a cancer related illness, and admitted into hospital. The bag contains lots of essential and luxury items that will help them through the first frightening weeks of their journey.

Story

My names Effie and I'm 8 years old.

I've been asking my mum and stepdad now for weeks if I can cut all of my hair off (it nearly touches my bum) so that I can donate it to The Little Princess Trust.  The Little Princess Trust accepts hair to provide wigs for children who are experiencing hair loss, I plan on donating 8 inches.

My mum  asked what I would  feel like if I regret it once I've had it cut and wishes I  had kept it long to which I  replied 'mummy, it's only hair... it will grow back, I'll be grateful for everything I have in life, some children have cancer and are scared'.

I also want to raise money to donate to the Millys Smiles charity.  Milly tragically lost her battle against Acute Myeloid Leukaemia in September 2015 aged 11. Milly was a fellow pupil of mine at Our Lady and St Hubert's School in Great Harwood, her memory lives on within the school and community and I would like to help Milly's memory continue.

Milly's Smiles raises money to provide a welcome pack to each newly diagnosed family admitted onto Ward 84 at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.  This provides items that will help during the first few days and weeks of their hospital stay, along with this they will endeavour to offer items that will bring a smile to the faces of the children and let families know that people are thinking of them.
