Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
9th February 2015 was the day i was diagnosed with advanced Prostate Cancer at the age of 52, as you can imagine the news was devastating as i had no symptoms or any illness,. The cancer was picked up following a routine check and i was lucky to have caught it very early.
In July i underwent a Radical Prostatectomy using the Di Vinci robot at Broadgreen Liverpool under Mr Robin Weston, since the operation my PSA levels have been non detectable and things are looking very good indeed and life is back to normal in all ways. I am one of the lucky ones, not everyone is as fortunate as i have been and i intend to try and help others who have not been as lucky as myself by completing the Grand Depart in June in aid of Men United, its my way of giving something back. The ride is 117 miles starting in the beautiful town of Mont St Michel and finishing at Utah Beach, Normandy, this will also be the first stage of this years Tour de France. The ride is over one day with 100 cyclists taking part and although the course is relatively flat it will still be very demanding.
I would be very grateful if you could donate whatever you can to my challenge and lets try and increase the profile and awareness of this disease and help others you have been diagnosed and the ones yet to be.
