For the past 18 months my amazing wife, Karen Holtorp, has been battling stage 4 skin cancer (malignant melanoma) with the support of the incredible team at The Christie. On Sunday 4th September I will be completing the Manchester 100 Mile Bike Ride, to support The Christie and help them to carry on the wonderful work that they do.

Since her diagnosis Karen has had 4 tumours, 3 operations, 35 doses of radiotherapy and is getting ready for another operation in a few weeks to remove a tumour currently in her brain. Throughout her battle she has been incredibly brave, resilient and positive – and in no small part this is down to the brilliant support from The Christie throughout the up's and down's of her cancer treatment.

The Christie charity provides enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds. Gifts from the public make a huge difference to the care and treatment that The Christie is able to offer to Karen and many other people fighting cancer.
