Gemma's Skydive at Peterlee

Sydive at Peterlee · 13 July 2018
I am turning 40 on July 14th! I want to do something different and have decided to do a skydive with the aim of raising money for a small charity, the NET patient foundation. NET specifically focuses on researching neuroendocrine cancer. NET is a charity that is close to my heart. My sister-in-law Kelly is currently living with neuroendocrine cancer.
In England there are 6.2 people per 1 million people diagnosed with NET and 35 people for every 100,000 people are living with NET. NET is cancer that can hide and be camouflaged often leading to misdiagnoses and late diagnosis which understandably has a significant impact on how some-one adjusts to living with the disease. This is a cancer that can hide and is often camouflaged and not recognised at initial assessment and so diagnoses can take a long time to be made. Having a diagnosis of NET is life-changing and can have a potentially life-shortening impact on those living with the illness.
The purpose of NET is to support and inform patients and families from diagnosis, enabling access to the best care and treatment, whilst stimulating Neuroendocrine Cancer research, increasing national awareness and influencing improvements in outcomes.
So instead of sending me a gift for my 40th, I would greatly appreciate any sum to sponsor my skydive which I plan to do on Friday 13th July the day before I turn 40. Your sponsorship will help contribute towards raising money for NET to fund much needed research. Thank-you!
