Story

I'm not one to let a few setbacks, injuries and the pandemic get in the way of a promise...In 2020 I was due to run the London Marathon, and 2023 will be the year it finally happens! This is my 'why'...

On the 7th September 2019, four people from George Davies Turf put on an amazing night for Brain Tumour Research and in doing so raised a whopping £22,500.

This was for a dear friend Colin Jamieson who had just been diagnosed with a Brain Tumour in June 2019. After undergoing surgery to have it removed, 5 years on he is an absolute inspiration, and in his own words "the work they do as a is amazing" to be able to put myself through the mill in order to raise funds to help my friend just inspires me more than ever.

Hannah, a colleague at the time had some very similar news back in February 2019 when her father Russell was diagnosed, after lots of exploratory tests which eventually lead to brain surgery to remove the Tumour, the Tumour was just too vigorous to control even with Chemotherapy……Unfortunately Russell Shreeves passed away on December 5th 2019, but we managed to put on a wonderful evening for him at our 'Band in a Barn Event' that took place on Saturday 7th September 2019.

We are truly grateful to our suppliers and friends who gave donations, gifts and promises that amounted to an incredible amount. To name a few, spa weekend vouchers, signed Arsenal shirts, helicopter rides …………..the list was endless. We just want to say a HUGE thank you for everyone’s support.

Hannah’s mum (Sharon), made a wonderful speech which touched the hearts of everyone who were present and Russell you were true Legend, RIP.

While the 4 of us Hannah, Sophie, Nick and Myself have raised over £22,500 for Brain Tumour Research, with Colin still fighting with the long term effects of having a Brain Tumour removed, I am determined more now than ever to run the London Marathon for such a wonderful cause, and raise as much money as I can for the great charity.

If we could hit £30,000 that would be absolutely incredible......
