Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
On Friday 15th March, Jo, Glenn and David will be flying to Tanzania to climb Kilimanjaro, the Roof of Africa! When we first arrive we will have a day to relax and get our strength up ready to set off on the Machame route on the Sunday. The trek will last seven days, through five different climate zones, and we will (hopefully) reach the 5,895 metre summit (19,341 ft) to watch the sunrise on 22nd March. Altitude sickness is the biggest thing we fear but we’re all hoping it doesn’t stop us getting there!
We haven’t booked this through any charity - it was all fully paid for by us as a ‘holiday’ through an adventure company some 10 months ago. We hadn’t intended to do this for charity, however some kind friends have asked if they could sponsor us. We thought this would be a great extra incentive for us to push on through the mental and physical challenge that we fully expect this to be. We have chosen Cancer Research UK, as this charity continues to help fight the disease that we have had experience of very close to home and also in our wider circle of friends. We want to do what we can to help them to continue their research.
We realise this comes out just after Comic Relief has announced that it has a team of celebrities climbing Kilimanjaro in February, This is is also a fantastic cause and we wish them all luck! But, if you would like to donate to us instead (or as well as), it would be VERY much appreciated.
THANK YOU!! And please keep your fingers crossed that we get to the top!
