We fund long-term, sustainable research to find a cure for brain tumours

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are a private daycare nursery based in Manchester and we are raising money for Brain Tumour Research because in early 2014 one of our children was diagnosed with an Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumour (AT/RT), a very rare and aggressive form of brain cancer.

Gracie McCall was two years old at the time and a much loved member of our nursery. She  showed incredible bravery and good humour throughout her treatment, which has so far included two drastic brain surgeries, radiotherapy and chemotherapy.  Gracie had a number of clear MRI scans and was on the road to recovery. Unfortunatley this month three new tumours have been discovered. One on her brain again and two spots on her spine. We have been fundraising in her name through events at the nursery and have set up this page with the aim of raising as much money as we can, so that Gracie and all children diagnosed with AT/RT in the future have the best possible chance for recovery.

Any donation you could make would be greatly appreciated by all of us here at at the nursery and by Gracie's parents Katie and Callum. Even though Gracie went to primary school in September she still visits nursery and the family keeps in touch. All money raised will go straight in to research that will improve the chances for all children diagnosed with rare brain cancers.

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.
