My hubby Tony, Luke and Zoes dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer in March this year.
He had been poorly for about 8 weeks with sepsis in September 2019. Once he was on the mend in the December of last year the hospital asked him to go for a routine follow up blood test. He had the results in January and was told his PSA level was higher than it should be. (However at this point he hadnt had any symptoms/problems re the prostate.) This then led to him having further examinations, then an MRI scan and then a biopsy of the prostate. We were told the devastating news in March, that he had prostate cancer. The charity Prostate Cancer Uk have been a huge support to us over this period with information and conversations with the Specialist Nurses. Tony had a radical laprascopic prostectamy on the 8th of July and thankfully is now recovering. So ironically if he hadnt had sepsis he wouldnt have discovered the prostate cancer. Our son was determined to do something to raise awareness and vital funds for the Prostate UK charity and has decided to climb Snowdon 3 times a day for 7 days - starting on the 5th of October this year. Please all you chaps out there get yourselves checked out. We are so overwhelmed by the generous donations we have received to date and would be grateful to anyone who can donate further. £4000 would help train up 2 Specialist Nurses, it would be so amazing if we could reach this figure. Thank you
