When stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down. And so does a part of you. Life changes instantly and recovery is tough. But the brain can adapt. Our specialist support, research and campaigning are only possible with the courage and determination of the stroke community.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This year I have decided that instead of just making a donation to the Stroke Association I would like to actually get involved. So the Boys and I will be walking a mile for Step out for Stroke.

In May 2008 I suffered a stroke at the age of just 27. I was healthy and active, I had a 3 year old and a nine month old baby, I didn't drink or smoke and wasn't over weight, I was the most unlikely candidate for a stroke - until I wasn't.

It turned out I had a hole in my heart that a blood clot had passed through and went straight to my brain. I was incredibly lucky that my clot was only the size of a 20 pence piece and caused minimal permanent damage.

There are hundreds of young people every year that suffer strokes and aren't as lucky as me, and require help and support from great organisations like the Stroke Association. So please help me to raise money to make someone less fortunate than myself, life a little better.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
