Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. This charity is close to our hearts as they have helped Dad and us as a family, get through the toughest time in all of our lives .

In September 2012 my dad, who was 65 at the time , had a stroke, whilst at work. He lost use of his left side and was unable to swallow. After being in hospital for many weeks, he learnt to swallow, his face tightened a little more and his slurring improved. He then learnt to walk again, although he has no use of his  left arm or hand sadly to this day. The local stroke group and association have been amazing and helped us,as a family support dad and my mum.

I never realised how much a stroke impacted on a person and how much of them you lose. The emotional impact is massive and  my dad is different after his stroke. As a family we would do anything to turn the clock back and have our dad running around like he used to. We will never forget that dreaded day and now we take each day and remain positive with the progress dad has made and still continues to make .

Any donation will be much appreciated- we will walk side by side by our lovely dad and grandpa , who never thought he would walk again x
