Christian Aid is an organisation that is striving to achieve equality, dignity and freedom for all, regardless of faith or nationality. They provide urgent, practical and effective assistance where need is great, tackling the effects of poverty as well as it’s root causes.
In the last year, they have
- reached millions of people caught up in the Ebola crisis and conflict in the Middle East
- demanded urgent action on climate change
- helped bring about ground-breaking legislation that makes it
harder for big corporations to avoid paying tax
- helped hundreds of thousands of people get access to better
services, and prepare for climate extremes and disasters
- tackled discrimination against women and marginalised groups
- strived to make markets work for poor communities so they can become financially self-sufficient.

To raise money for Christian Aid this year, I have set myself the task of completing the Ultimate Trails Challenge. The course starts and finishes in Ambleside and takes in a complete circuit around some of the most dramatic mountain scenery of the central Lake District. It includes 6 mountain passes, 5 lakes, and with climbs totalling 14,000 ft, it is the most ascent/descent combined with long distance that I have ever attempted in one go. Your support through sponsorship would really give me a huge boost as I clock up the miles and tackle those hills!
