Story
KATIES WEAR A HAT #SHOWTUNES SUNDAY MUSICAL CONCERT
SO WHY I AM HOSTING THIS CONCERT?
I have never really shared my brain tumour story publicly with people other than my close family & friends so this is a big thing for me. I have never used my brain tumour as an excuse or for gain nor have I ever denied or stopped myself from doing things just because I had a brain tumour & why should we!
I suffered a rare Pineal based brain tumour close to my Pituitary gland when I was 10 years old. Your Pineal gland is your internal time clock, mine has actually been removed which is maybe why I’m such a night owl & why I love Lewis Carols’ character the Mad Hatter lol!!
I was a child like Shirley temple and budding youth singer and performer on a journey to the stars when my life suddenly took a turn in a different direction.
After my diagnosis time sadly passed me by and the thought of never singing and performing again was heart wrenching, but I am here now!
I have never had the confidence to publicly share my Brain Tumour Story but Covid has given me a lot of time to think creatively and think about my life and the people that surround me. It’s given me the time to think about my experience & the courage to use it to help others!
After my diagnosis I knew I was different from other kids, I lost my hair from radio thereby, my head was shaped differently & inside and out and I felt a little different too but I learnt to embrace my uniqueness!
For those who don’t know me I am a dreamer, a fantasist and a massive lover of all things Disney “Believe in your dreams for nothing is impossible!”
I want to share hope & positivity with those who have suffered & are suffering with a brain tumour and I am reaching out to all of the amazing people who support and carry us through these hard times! There is light at the end of the tunnel and even though I still live with lasting effects from such a traumatic experience, you have to enjoy life and find a path to live even if it may be different to what you had planned it is still possible & may even be better!
I started my own theatre company based on this premise with the aim to use my life & my experiences for creative material to help me and to help others. My theatre company is called Warwick Avenue Productions inspired by my family & Papa Warwick who is sadly not with us but I’m sure he is watching with enjoyment, he was a real entrepreneur & socialite within the community! I hope you are proud Papa!
Well just like Alice in wonderland there is always an avenue to walk down and always a platform for you to perform on hence my company name.
This is just a brief snap shot of my life & how I have arrived in this present moment, it took a long time to get here but I made it & I still have far to go!
I hope you enjoy my WEAR A HAT #SHOWTUNES SUNDAY Musical Concert in Aid of brain Tumour Research!
Please help me raise awareness for this amazing charity!
Together we will find a cure for Brain Tumours!
