The Kirkwood is the hospice for the Kirklees district of West Yorkshire. Its' mission is to serve all those affected by life limiting illness, including their families and friends and carers. Right now, there are an estimated 3000 people in need. The Kirkwood is continuing to provide palliative care and symptom management both within the hospice and out in the community. It also provides counselling and emotional and spiritual support and a wide range of therapies. All of this is to make every single day of life as good as it can be, and to be there every step of the way.

BUT... because of Covid restrictions, its' income is being decimated. The 19 Kirkwood shops are closed and most major fundraising events cancelled.
So, to try and help a little, I am aiming to fundraise by walking the West Highland Way. It runs for 94 miles from just north of Glasgow to Fort William. We aim to complete it in 8 days starting on May 14th.

I have started training in January and have a program set out to improve my fitness and stamina over 14 weeks, to give myself the best chance of completing the walk. I shall celebrate my 74th birthday along the way.  I am asking you to sponsor my endeavour to help The Kirkwood support life. This truly inspirational organisation deserves it.
