We are the charity for older people to be there when they need us most.

Story

On Sunday 26th April I was due to run the London Marathon for Age UK. The pandemic means that I cannot do this good thing for older people, but I really want to help.  So,  instead I am going to do a marathon dance in my living room - for a distance of 26.2miles - recording it on my Garmin.

I cannot stress enough how much I am NOT an actual dancer.

I repeat.  I AM NOT AN ACTUAL DANCER.

I am literally going to bang on some disco tunes and bounce around my living room, as if I were at a disco.  I have no idea how long it will take me, but I did manage to dance for 11 miles on my 40th birthday in a pair of ridiculous shoes*, so although a few years have passed since then, I'm hoping that I make it through!

I will also attempt to do this through ZOOM so that you can join in.  If you donate, please make your name/email address available to me, and I will email you ZOOM details if you want to join the party.  My only request is that if you come to the 'party' you must boogie too!

My best guess is between 6 and 7 hours.  I'm aiming to start at 10am, and to do the first hour on my own, then to open up the ZOOM DANCEFLOOR from 11am.

Whatever you donate will go straight to frontline support for older - helping the Age UK network to keep our helplines and community support going - much of it 24/7, because we're just in it and getting on with it

*If my downstairs neighbours are reading, I promise not to wear the shoes.

**Or at least do the Thornaby two-step. (Only folk from my home town will get this reference, sorry).
