We support local partners around the world to combat avoidable blindness.

Story

Did you know there are 39 million blind people in the world, but 80 per cent of blindness could be prevented or cured? That's 31.2 million people who are blind when it could have been avoided.

This year, to celebrate the launch of the Momart Christmas Card 2016 designed by a leading British artist Paul Fryer, we are raising funds to support Sightsavers - a charity working towards restoring, saving and protecting people’s sight

Sightsavers works in some of the poorest countries to eliminate avoidable blindness and, where blindness is irreversible, they work to promote equality and ensure people with disabilities have the same opportunities in life as anyone else.

A cataract operation for an adult costs £30; £20 can contribute to help train eye care workers and surgeons; and as little as 7p will treat one person from river blindness.

Your donation will help make this happen. Whether it’s funding a sight saving operation itself, getting someone to a doctor, giving children with visual impairments an education, providing support to families affected by blindness – by giving your support today you’re changing people’s lives.

Let's give others the gift of sight!

About Momart Christmas Card
The tradition of the Momart Christmas card goes back to 1984 when the first object – a festive card – was designed for the company by Bruce McLean. Since then Momart collaborated on this project with many of the top British and international artists. The complete series of Momart Christmas card is now part of the permanent collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Tate.

About Paul Fryer
Paul Fryer (b. 1963) works with a wide range of mediums and techniques utilising extreme and unusual effects such as high voltage electricity and captured cosmic rays as well as more traditional materials as wood marquetry, waxwork, bronzes and photography. His practice is largely concerned with the question of human consciousness and our position in the universe as reflected in his on-going experiments and observations in nature, science and theology.
