Event: Virtual London Marathon 2021, on 3 October 2021
In memory of Shona Eaton
A great opportunity for our supporters to take on the ultimate challenge 26.2 miles! Your Run your Way.... Support the UK Sepsis Trust and make a difference!

Story

Shona was, a great mum to Aaron, Daughter to Margaret and my Big Sister and a great friend to many.  Shona was always looking for her next challenge, she had completed the Great North 1/2 marathon had trained for the Aviemore 1/2 marathon and participated in many other sporting challenges along with her good friends (kilt walks, beach ballistic, glack attack, 10K’s....).

Shona always put others first and wasn’t one to complain, when she felt unwell on August 25th 2020 her first thought was of those close to her and didn’t want to make a fuss - Shona passed away aged 50 August 28th 2020 of Septic Shock.

I want to raise awareness of ‘What is sepsis’, ‘the Symptoms of Sepsis’ and for all to know they should be comfortable to ask the question  ‘Could it be sepsis’  and hopefully a family can avoid the heartache of losing a loved one.

This will be my first marathon... let’s hope my knees hold up and I can make Shona proud xx

Sepsis accounts for 48,000 deaths annually in the UK, that’s more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer put together. Sepsis is what happens when our immune system overreacts to an infection. Symptoms initially present as flu like but can rapidly deteriorate into a life threatening condition.
