Over 150,000 of us in the UK have MS. It’s unpredictable and different for everyone. But it doesn’t have to be this way. We’re the MS Society. We understand what life’s like with MS. We're here for you through the highs, lows and everything in between. Together, we are strong enough to stop MS.

Story

Thank you for  taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My best friend's mum, Suzy is one of the stongest, wittiest and warmest people I know, welcoming me into her home as an extension of the Holland family time and time again. For me, the fact that someone as vibrant as Suzy has been impacted brings home the fact that conditions such as MS can affect anyone at any time in their lives.

MS society currently estimate 107,000 people are living in the UK with MS, and every year 5,000 people are newly diagnosed with the condition. This means 1/600 people in the UK has MS. Each day approx. 14 people are diagnosed with MS.

There is currently no cure for MS. People with MS face a daily challenge that I can't imagine.

I have always enjoyed setting myself personal goals, this had led to me signing up for the biggest challenge of my life to date - climbing Mount Kilimanjaro from 26th Aug - 4th Sept 2016.

Kilimanjaro is a dormant volcano in Tanzania. It is the highest mountain in Africa at 5,895m (19,341 feet), making it the highest freestanding mountain in the world. It features as one of the '7 summits' and is....

  • Over 4x higher than Ben Nevis, Scotland (1,344m)
  • Over 5x higher than Snowdon, Wales (1,085m)
  • Over 9x higher than Snaefell, Isle of Man (620m)

I'll be posting regular updates on training & fundraising so you can track my progress!

100% of the funds raised will be donated to the MS Society, the UKs leading MS charity who have been providing information and support, funding research and fighting for change since 1953 with the aim of beating MS.

MS Society depends entirely on charitable fundraising and the support of the public and volunteers to be able to do their work.

Your donation can help in so many way:

  • £5 would provide essential information to 3 people diagnosed with MS
  • £10 would help provide vital information leaflets about MS and could fund a much needed call to the MS Society helpline
  • £20 would help fund the cost of someone receiving 24 hour nursing care at the respite care centre
  • £25 could fund 100 copies of the 'what is MS?' booklet
  • £30 would help towards the running costs of the MS Freephone helpline
  • £50 would contribute to the individual support grant programme that provides mobility aids, adaptions and equipment and could pay for a days training for a volunteer helpline officer, who makes sure people affected by MS have someone to talk to
  • £54 funds an hour of research into finding better treatments and ultimately, a cure for MS

Thank you for your support for this fantastic cause. Your donation means so much to me personally and MS Society. So please dig deep and support my efforts in supporting this great charity.
