Story

I had a go at writing my story then my mum helped to make it into better English! Please donate and support my cause.

No-one can escape the terrible pandemic that has gripped the world and our country. Throughout the past few weeks, staff at all levels in the NHS have saved lives and paid the ultimate sacrifice. But as a St John cadet myself, and my mum an adult volunteer, we have seen first hand how much our organisation has done and continues to do to help, by providing ambulances, equipment and people to volunteer in hospitals and other settings.

I am only alive because of what the NHS did for me. Some of you might know that I have cerebral palsy and use a frame to walk and my mum is really unfit (thanks, Joseph!) so this challenge will be a really hard one and I might need some help from my friends to do a little bit along the way (I'll let you know who joins me if they do) but if Captain Tom can do it, so can I!

We will be jogging, walking, cycling or scooting (during our daily exercise time) and then using the treadmill at home for the rest of the time to  cover the distance from my home in Chesterfield to St John's Gate in London which is 147.8 miles according to Google Maps. So why there? Apart from the connection with St John, it was here that I met Princess Anne when a got an award 2 years ago so it would be great to visit again.

Sorry this is so long and if you made it to the end, thank you! Please donate whatever you can to help us reach our goal. It really will be put to good use anywhere around the country where there is a need.

THANK YOU!!

Help us ease the strain during the COVID-19 outbreak. Our dedicated St John Ambulance volunteers are standing by to relieve pressure on our NHS by boosting the health response in communities across the country
