London Marathon 2021 · 3 October 2021 ·

We’re the UK’s leading charity for Crohn’s and Colitis. Right now, over 500,000 people in the UK are living with a lifelong disease that many people have never heard of. We’re working to improve diagnosis and treatment; to fund research and to raise awareness.

Story

Hello and thankyou for visiting my fundraising page for me running the London marathon in October 2021 for Crohn's and Colitis uk.

I have chosen this charity as it is very close to my heart as my dad Brian Seymour suffers with ulcerative colitis having first being diagnosed with it back in 1990, and he has had to take medication everyday since he was diagnosed to control this invisible illness. He has never let it hold him back and has always kept himself fit, and he has inspired me all through my life! I know that giving back to this charity that does such important work towards the care and research of all Crohn's and colitis sufferers is very important to him and rest of our family so I hope I do him proud!

I have been a keen runner over the years completing alot half marathons and 10 years ago in 2011 i entered the London marathon which I completed in 4hrs 59mins and 15seconds. Now to say I underestimated it would be an understatement, I thought I had trained well with my longest run before the event being 16miles! Well suprise suprise by the 18th mile I hit 'the wall' my legs cramped up and I relied on deep freeze spray to limp my way to the end. After this I have always felt deep down that I didn't do myself justice and for the following four years I tried to enter again just to be able to complete it comfortably but after a few years of failing to get in the ballet my enthusiasm dropped and I pretty much gave up running...... Until the 2020 lockdown! When I strapped my shoes back on and refound my motivation. A few runs and I started thinking about the events I'd entered in the past and about the London marathon, so what better way to celebrate 10 years then to run it again! Crohn's and colitis UK was the only choice of charity I wanted to run for as it's so important to me, I now no what to expect on the day and I'm more motivated than ever! Please help me to reach my target however you can and also please if you can, come and support me on the day!
