London Marathon 2017 · 23 April 2017 ·

Every day in the UK 1,100 people will hear the words ‘you have cancer’, but 40% of cancer cases are preventable. While society continues searching for a cure, we are investing millions into our prevention & survival work, helping people live healthier, free from the devastating effects of cancer.

Story

I am running the London marathon for World Cancer Research Fund UK.

I only started running 12 months ago after a friend challenged me to complete a 10k in memory of my grandmother who I had lost to cancer.  Before this, if you had told me I would be enter a London marathon one day, I would have laughed in your face!!

World Cancer Research Fund UK's mission is to champion the latest and most authoritative scientific research from around the world on cancer prevention and survival through diet, weight and physical activity, so that we can help people make informed lifestyle choices to reduce their cancer risk.

All of these are issue I have battled with in my life (and still do!!)  At my heaviest I was 14 stone and a dress size 18 and my activity levels were minimal.  I now wear a size 12, and have done for the past 4 years, and run 3 times a week as well as attended the gym, dancing and swimming too.  The benefits to my health have been huge and this is so, so important for someone who has seen loved ones battle cancer.

With this research, more and more cancers can be prevented so please sponsor me for this prestigious event to help support this worthwhile cause.

Thank you so, so much.
