Last month my family got the wonderful news that Anthony Nolan had found my little girl, Ava, a stem cell donor to treat her blood disorder. But it wasn't to be. Just 24 hours before Ava was due to get the medical treatment that would hopefully cure her, we discovered that the donor was unable to donate due to unexpected medical reasons.

Telling Ava she didn’t have a hero anymore was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. But I’m determined that we’re going to find her a donor and raise as much money as possible for Anthony Nolan, the charity that could potentially save her life.

It costs £60 to add each new donor to the Anthony Nolan register, so every penny you can spare really makes a difference.
