Scott's Marathon - Wales Air Ambulance

MBNA Chester Marathon 2021 · 3 October 2021 ·
Hello Everyone,
4 years ago had it not been for the Wales Air Ambulance Service, along with the actions of my mum and the brilliant doctors at Glan Clwyd Hospital, we would probably have lost my dad on a remote beach in North Wales. Anyone who has met my dad will know what a great guy he is and what losing him would of meant to all our
family. We could never fully repay the Wales Air Ambulance service for their efforts that day however, rather foolishly, I have decided to represent them on the 3rd of October at the Chester Marathon with the hope of raising some much needed funds to help, in some small part, keep this wonderful service operating.
The Wales Air Ambulance receive no direct government funding and do not qualify for any national lottery funding so rely entirely on public support to keep the helicopters flying. They need to raise somewhere in the region of £8 million every year just to operate the service and continue saving lives such as my
dad’s.
My training is going well, or as well as can be expected for a 38 year old office worker with a bad back, hip, ankle and knees, but any sponsorship incentive you can offer would be a much welcome boost as I enter the final stages of preparation.
Anybody who has completed a marathon will no doubt back me up when I say the time and effort needed just to get to the start line is a huge challenge in itself.
Please spare whatever you can, no donation is too small, for this wonderful charity.
Many thanks
Scott Owen
P.S - I will also be running the race in a bright red vest which for anyone who knows my footballing allegiances will appreciate
that this will be just as painful for me as the 26.2 miles I will be covering.
If that isn’t motivation to sponsor me I don’t know what is!
