Coast to coast on a tandem · 7 July 2017
Three years ago I (Cath) was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, over the years family and friends have raised money for this charity by embarking on a range of activities and challenges.
Our latest challenge is to take part in a Coast to Coast bike ride but with a twist - on a tandem! Cath and Ruth hope to cover approximately 170 miles from Workington in Cumbria to Whitby in North Yorkshire over a period of three days. I'm sure there'll be plenty of ups and downs and I don't just mean the hills!
In addition to this Ruth and her husband Andy are also biking the Prudential London 100cycle ride in aid of the MNDA
Motor Neurone Disease affects up to 5000 people in the UK every year and it holds no prisoners. It is a disease that currently has no known cause or cure. People can be diagnosed who have had good health and regardless of their age. It is a cruel disease that progresses by attacking the motor neurones which leads to weakness and wasting of muscles causing loss of mobility in limbs and difficulties with speech, swallowing and breathing. This is why it is so important to raise funds and help to find a cure to stop other people having to suffer unneccesarily.
Please give generously, any amount will be gratefully received, no matter how big or small, every step and penny is crucial in the discovery of new research and treatment.
All funds raised will be split equally between MNDA, MND Cleveland, MND Richmond and Hambleton and MND Research.
Thank you,
Cath and Ruth.
