Story
So, if the 2015 London Marathon wasn't enough of a stupid challenge, then climbing the world's highest free-standing mountain in 2016 should do it.
As a choir leader for the Tenovus Cancer Care Sing with Us choirs, I know first hand just how cancer can affect and destroy peoples' lives. But, in my role I have also been lucky enough to help deliver some of the amazing support this charity provides to help those affected by this disease in their local communities. By sponsoring me to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, you'll be helping Tenovus Cancer Care to keep doing what they do best: helping them to prevent, treat, and find a cure for cancer.
Trust me, I'm going to need all the help I can get! I've climbed mountains in the past, but in comparison with Kili they are mere hills. Not even Britain's tallest mountain Ben Nevis (1,344m) comes close. At 5,895m tall, the summit of Kilimanjaro is actually 500m higher than Everest Base Camp. I'll keep you updated with blog posts, photos and videos to prove that I am training hard and earning every penny - and trust me, the training is going to be way more difficult than for the London Marathon! So, please give as generously as you can - I will even include little surprises for those who sponsor me along the way! As you can see, £4000 is a lot of money to raise, and I appreciate every single donation no matter how big or small. If you can, please GiftAid your donation, to help me reach my target even quicker.
Thanks so much for your support - follow my progress as I take on the hardest challenge of my life at www.jessruthmorris.wordpress.com.
I'll see you at the summit!
