Story

The current and former Milton Keynes Mayors and Mayoresses are taking part in MK Midnight Moo 2016 in memory of ex-Councillor Brian White.

Brian White, who was Mayor of Milton Keynes from 2013 to 2014, and MP between 1997 and 2005, retired as Labour Councillor for Stantonbury in February. But just as he was about to embark on a new dream living in Spain with his wife Leena Lindholm-White, he found out he had terminal cancer.

He said: “I have always suffered cramps but this time last year started getting internal cramps in my organs and as it got the Christmas I realised there was something wrong. They found masses on my kidneys which they then investigated further and found I had a tumour in my gullet. A CT scan showed the cancer had spread into the liver and into my bones. It was inoperable”

‘Walking for Brian’ is a team of ladies agreed by Brian before his passing.

Catriona Morris (Former Mayor)
Vicki McClean (Mayoress 2015/16)
Liane Lacey (Current Mayoress 2016/17)
Nikki Skavydis (Mayoress  2014/15)
Francesca Skelton (Former Buckinghamshire High Sheriff for 2015-16)
Bernie Winkelman (On behalf of MK Dons)
Anne Marie Robinson (On behalf of MK Dons)
Hawwa Dorrington (On behalf of MKFM )
Also hoping to take part is Brian’s wife who was mayoress during Brian’s time as Mayor.

OneMK and MKFM are supporting the team and the MK Midnight Moo which is a 10 mile walk on Saturday July 16 across the redways.
