Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As many of you know, my Dad has recently been diagnosed with bowel cancer and so I have decided to try to raise some money for Bowel Cancer UK, which is the UK's leading Bowel Cancer Research charity. Bowel Cancer is the 4th most common cancer in the U.K and is the U.K's second biggest cancer killer.
The event I'm doing is a half ironman triathlon which involves a 1.9km open water swim, 56 mile cycle and 13.1 mile run (70.3 miles in total). Having not done any triathlons since May 2014 due to a shoulder issue, and having not been on a bike since then until 7 weeks ago, it's certainly going to be a challenge...just getting through the training without ending up injured is going to be the biggest challenge as I have several 'niggles' that are desperately wanting to become fullblown injuries! The previous longest triathlon I have done is about a third of the distance of this one so it's certainly a step up! I considered doing a full Ironman but thought that was too much of a jump in the time frame I had and a recipe for significant injury so for now it's a half!
