RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour search and rescue service all around the UK and Ireland, while lifeguards keep a careful watch on the UK’s busiest beaches. RNLI lifesaving and drowning prevention depend on supporter fundraising and the generous donations that you and others give.

Story

Hello

UPDATE: who has

I would like to thank everyone who has very generously donated money towards this great cause. Almost £2,000 has already been donated and will make a significant contribution towards the new lifeboat. Unfortunately due to the typical English weather, the original planned jump on the 28th of June will be postponed as the weather conditions are unsuitable. This means that I have had to re-schedule the jump until July 26th, when hopefully there will be no wind, and the sun will be out.

The RNLI at Rye Harbour have recently lost their only lifeboat whilst attempting to rescue someone who had fallen into the river Rother at 01:00hrs. Because of this, the crew have had to borrow a replacement boat and now need to raise £64,000 to purchase a new boat. Rye has had a history of difficult sea rescue missions, Rye Harbour was the scene of one of the RNLI's worst lifeboat disasters in its 165-year history when 17 crew lost their lives in 1928. The threats are still imminent, last year 5 men tragically drowned at Camber sands, proving that the lifeboat is an essential necessity for this area.
