Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Alex is 8 years old. He was born with a congenital heart defect called Truncus Arteriosus. Alex was given surgery at 2 weeks old to insert a donated heart valve and went into further surgery when he was just 17 months old. After the second surgery Alex suffered numerous strokes. The strokes meant that Alex had lost everything - his speech, mobility and the ability to eat and drink. Alex had to relearn everything. He woke up like a new born baby.
After years of rehabilitation Alex is now doing really well. Due to his brain injury, Alex still has mobility challenges and suffers with memory issues, fatigue and emotional stress.
Thanks to Caudwell Children Alex and his Mum Julie are going on their Destination Dreams trip to Florida next year. Destination Dreams is a fully supported family holiday for children fighting life threatening illnesses.
“Alex watches YouTube videos of children at Disneyland and wishes it could be him. I’m so proud that Alex is reaching all of his huge milestones and I love making new memories with him. Destination Dreams is going to be a trip of a life time for Alex and me. I can't thank Caudwell Children enough” says Julie, Alex’s Mum.
Alex and Julie simply wouldn't be able to go on this trip if it wasn't for Caudwell Children. Financially it would be impossible but also because of the support Alex requires to travel. Help the wishes of children like Alex come true this Christmas.
