Story
I did it! I ran the Flora London Marathon 2003.
My official time is 4:43:18. According to the London Marathon website, my race position is 3883 - considering that there were 32,000+ finishers - I think that's incredible!
It was the most awesome, excruciating thing I have ever done. I don’t think my feet touched the floor for the first two miles, then my feet got blisters, by 14 miles my knee was agonisingly painful (but I kept running), by 19 miles I was determined to finish and was then sightseeing along the Embankment. I have never had so many people cheering me on as my name was on my t-shirt. The advert on BBC lied - it wasn’t like 16 personal trainers - more like 1600! The crowd were amazing. Every time someone cheered my name, my knee stopped hurting (just for a little while!).
I could not have done this without everyone's support. I know that the charity is extremely grateful as well.
Many thanks!
Amy
