Story
My story - I am Karleigh and I am 6 and a half years old. My sister and I were born prematurely at 31 weeks after our placenta ruptured. We were taken to ICU at Leicester Royal Infirmary and were transferred to Kingsmill Children's ICU, Mansfield within a few hours. After our birth, our Mum was quite ill so she was unable to come to the hospital with us. Our Dad spent his time with us at the hospital in Mansfield while our Mum was left alone in Leicester. We were eventually transferred, separately, back to the Leicester Royal Infirmary after a few days. Again, after a matter of days we were transferred again, together this time, to Leicester General Hospital SCBU where we stayed for 6 weeks until we were discharged to home. Since the schools have been closed I have been riding my bike every day, regardless of the weather, for miles at a time. I thought about raising money for the NHS while I am biking anyway. I am going to ride the equivalent mileage of all the journeys to the different hospitals, starting from home back to home again. After looking on Google Maps, the distance covered will be 107.6 miles. I am giving myself 12 days, however I dont think it will take me that long 😄. My parents thought it would be a good idea to donate the money towards the funding for the Childrens Hospitals rather than the general NHS as it was these departments that helped to care for me and my twin sister. I would like to raise £1000. Thank you for any donation you can give.
Donating to Leicester Hospitals Charity enables us to enhance the services, care and environment in the three hospitals in Leicester- Leicester General Hospital, Glenfield Hospital and the Leicester Royal Infirmary. Your donation really can make a significant difference to how people feel, how well they respond to treatments and how quickly they recover. The smallest gift really can help so please, support our fantastic fundraisers and help them raise as much money as possible for their selected area in the hospital or the area of greatest need
