Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running The Great North Run in September and I hope to raise some money for a local charity. M.A.R.S (Mercia Accident Rescue Service) is a team of volunteer doctors, nurses and paramedics, who provide advanced pre-hospital medical care to seriously injured and critically unwell patients in Herefordshire, Worcestershire and the Midlands, covering over 2500 square miles of central England. They respond to requests in their own personal cars that are fitted out with blue lights and sirens. They bring highly skilled medical expertise to the patient, capable of providing life-saving intervention at the roadside, many of which are not provided by the ambulance service. I currently work with 3 of these volunteers in Hereford. Last year a friend and colleague was cycling home from her shift in the evening when she was knocked off her bike by a car and suffered terrible injuries. It was 2 of our own colleagues, who were having a meal in a nearby restaurant, who responded. They played a major part in saving Ash's life and she spent 25 days in hospital, in Birmingham, many of those in I.T.U. Thanks to those amazing volunteers, she returned home to her family and has been back at work for a few weeks now.
I know times are difficult at the moment, but if you could spare a few pennies/pounds, myself, Ash and M.A.R.S would be hugely grateful. XX
