The DPJ Foundation is a Welsh charity to support those in rural communities and in agriculture with mental health problems. We do this by reducing the stigma that surrounds poor mental health, educating people with mental health awareness training and providing counselling and a 24/7 helpline.

Story

My father lost his own father at a very young age. Had this platform been available perhaps history would be completely different. I can’t imagine what his young adult life was like without his father and what so many families have, and are going through.

More recently I have heard of others seeing no way out and inevitably ending their lives and leaving their families behind. This charity support the families and give those who are in need a lifeline when it’s most needed.

The London marathon is a once in a life time challenge I urge you all to dig deep and donate what you can. Every penny is greatly received and will help me get to the finish line.

The DPJ Foundation was set up in July 2016 by Emma Picton Jones. This followed the tragic death of Emma’s husband Daniel by suicide. The DPJ Foundation have been offering a full range of services across the whole of Wales since the Autumn of 2019.

The main objectives are to support people in the agricultural sector in Wales with poor mental health. Raise awareness of mental health. To educate and inform people about mental health. To provide support not only to those dealing with poor mental health, but also their families, friends and colleagues.

What we do:
We run a 24/7 confidential support line via telephone or text called “Share the Load”. This is staffed by volunteers (who have received training from the Samaritans) and can also provide access to fully paid for counselling. We deliver Mental Health Awareness Training and do talks and holds events to raise awareness of mental health and to challenge the stigma around poor mental health, especially in agriculture. We offer support following a bereavement and we provide training and support to communities affected by suicide.
