Story

So I’m 50 this year and thought I’d set myself a challenge - I was thinking more a half marathon, but for some reason I’ve let the lovely folk from the SPF talk me into climbing Everest. I’m sure I was under the influence of drink when I agreed!

In October 2018, I along with 39 others will be climbing Mount Everest to base camp. This will be a 16 day trek to Kala Patthar, which is 5,545m high.

I know it’s going to be physically and mentally demanding, but I’ve heard that it’s life changing, life affirming and the most amazing journey, and I’d dearly love to experience that!

I’d be delighted if I could raise above and beyond my fundraising target, and raise lots of money for a fantastic charity - The Steve Prescott Foundation.

I know that Steve’s mantra will be going through my mind on the journey - What The Mind Believes, The Body Achieves, and that will get me to Base Camp...as well as a good pair of walking boots & plenty of painkillers for my dodgy knees and my hips!

About the charity

The Steve Prescott Foundation was set up by a totally inspirational man Steve Prescott MBE. In 2006 he was diagnosed with Pseudomyxoma Peritonei a terminal cancer & sought out to raise funds for The Christie Hospital and the Rugby League Benevolent Fund. The SPF changes the lives of so many people.
