Santa Skydive · 9 December 2017
Skydive completed! It was amazing! The weather was perfect. Clear blue skies, no wind and really cold.
My instructor, Chris, was really great and made it a real pleasant experience. I was surprisingly relaxed. Thanks Chris, and to all the Hinton Skydiving Centre team.
Suit up, jump in a plane on a frozen airfield. Climbed to 13,000ft and jumped out! It was -18 celcius at this altitude, pretty nippy on the cheeks as we plummeted at 120 mph, descending at 10,000 feet per minute.
We skydived for 45 seconds making different shapes and twists, while the photographer moved around us. It was great fun!
At 3,000 feet the chute was deployed and it all went very quiet very quickly. I removed my goggles and enjoyed the views over Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire. You could see for miles.
Chris turned us sharply to the left and also to the right gathering speed and then pulling up to slow us back down into a gentle glide again. We went through a practice of the landing, and soon the ground was approaching fast. We landed, skidding on my santa suit bottom onto the frozen ground. Awesome! "Let's go again" I called out.
Your bit is easier. Look at the photos and then sponsor me if you haven't already done so.
Thank you for your support for this amazing Hospice.
