Story
Any idiot can run a marathon. It takes a special kind of idiot to run an ultramarathon. — Alan Cabelly
Some people run marathons for charity; I'm doing two and a half of them back to back.
I'm taking on Race to the Stones to raise money for Wycombe Homeless Connection (WHC) because it's a charity that's close to my heart.
In February 2025, my girlfriend Shay and I took part in the Big Sleep Out to raise money for WHC, and that led me to want to do more to combat homelessness in my local community.
In September, I joined the WHC team as Volunteering Coordinator, a role in which I help our hundreds of volunteers to manage outreach, operate the winter night shelter, open our daily drop-in support centre and host events throughout the year. It seemed only right that when I decided to take on Race to the Stones, I went back to my roots to raise money for a charity that means so much to me.

Why Race to the Stones
I'm tackling Race to the Stones because I've already completed two 50k (31 mile) ultramarathons, and so the next logical step is to take on a 50-miler or a 100k.
I like to push my body to its limits and to see what I'm capable of, and I haven't found the limit yet. Although I came pretty close during Beat the Sunset.
Race to the Stones has always appealed to me because what's not to like about a race that takes you along the country's oldest road and ends at at a 5,000-year-old UNESCO World Heritage site?
And if you're going to put your body through hell to run 20 parkruns back to back (equivalent to around 9,000 London busses or slightly more than the distance from Oxford to London), why not do it for charity?
