Story

Thanks for visiting our page!

We’re an eight-strong group of childhood friends who, on 13 July 2019, will be undertaking the biggest challenge our lives so far; climbing the three highest peaks in the UK – Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon.

The climb is a challenge in itself but apply the tight 24-hour time frame and there’s an intense amount of pressure added to a group that have mixed fitness abilities, and most of whom have never climbed a proper mountain before.

Aside from wanting to face a group challenge as we all enter our 30th year, there’s one real drive to complete this mission, and that’s in memory of our dear friend Sam Ford’s fiancé, Jay Osborne. While out for a run on his first Father’s Day in 2017, Jay suffered a fatal and sudden cardiac arrest, caused by an undiagnosed hereditary heart condition called Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC). He was 28, and left behind Sam and their son, Remy, who was just seven months old at the time.

Since Jay’s tragic death the family have set up a registered charity, Jay’s AIM, to raise awareness and prevent sudden cardiac arrest in the South West’s young and active, by teaching CPR and providing life-saving defibrillators with the money raised. ARVC and other conditions like it are not well-known, and neither are their symptoms, but once diagnosed they can be managed and monitored and people are able to lead normal lives. You can find out more about the work the charity does here:

We’d love to raise as much as we possibly can for this very special charity that is so very close to all of our hearts. We’d love to smash our target of £6,000, which would fund four defibrillators. Your donation means so much to us all, thank you.
