Christmas Day marathon · 25 December 2020

The Mental Health Foundation believe no-one living in the UK should be deprived of the opportunity for good mental health because of who they are, the community they come from or where they live. We’re developing better ways to support good mental health in every community.

Story

Hi folks,

A month today, (Christmas Day) myself and my good friend Craig Barr will be running a marathon to raise money for the Mental Health Foundation. We had both signed up to run in the Edinburgh marathon that was initially meant to take place in May, postponed until September and then like most other events in 2020, cancelled altogether late in the summer.

I decided a couple of months back to not let the hard work go to waste and thought it would be a good way to finish the year on a high. It’s been a really tough year for everyone and has had a big impact on people’s mental wellbeing.

On a personal note, I have had my own struggles with my mental health over the past few years. Running/exercise has helped not just me, but some of my best friends get a little more headstrong over recent times and I’m sure plenty of others too. We lost a dear friend to suicide at the beginning of the year and hoping to raise a few bob for a very worthy cause.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated 💙 If anyone sees us on Christmas morning running about North Ayrshire like a cutla big daft lassies, feel free to launch some mince pies or pigs in blankets in our direction.

Callum and Craig
