Story
Mark and myself are taking part in the Edinburgh Half Marathon - a whole 21km of torture, pain and regret.
However, the regret will be short-lived because we are taking part for The Archie Foundation, who truly change lives through the services they offer.
You may know that I (Cassie) have worked at Archie for well over a year now. Every day I see the incredible impact the charity has on not just babies and children but their families too.
I could delve into every detail about all that Archie offers but I will give you one example that is very close to my heart:
The Archie Child Bereavement Service exists to support young people that have lost someone. Through the activities carried out, the book gifting service, the one-on-one support with our bereavement responders, the immediate support if a death has occurred within a Grampian Hospital or our designated support worker who works within school communities - the entire team put their heart into working with children through some of the toughest moments in their life.
As a young person who lost a parent at age 11, I can only wish that a service like this had existed. Every day we see examples of how ACBS help young people find the words when they struggle to speak and how much they empower them while they come to term with their emotions.
If you are interested in reading more about what The Archie Foundation does, you can do so at: www.archie.org
Even if you could spare a £1, it really does make the difference!
Plus, you will have the joy of seeing us look like a roast ham upon completion!!
Thanks for reading.
