Story
Thank you for visiting the JustGiving fundraising page in memory of Charles (Charlie) Quayle, architect, barrister (NP) and sailor.
We lost Charlie after a long illness on 31 December 2022. Ironically, he had beaten the cancer yet again (he was truly a fighter to the end) but the treatment finally took its toll. In typical Charlie style he has ensured that we will all remember him with drinks and fireworks on New Year's Eve for evermore!
Charlie was a keen military historian and was fascinated and impressed with the work done by Waterloo Uncovered, a small, registered UK charity that combines a world-class archaeology project on the battlefield of Waterloo with a support programme for veterans and the military community, many of them suffering from the physical and mental impacts of their service.
“The battlefield of Waterloo is historic ground in World history. It is appropriate and wonderful that the archaeology of the battlefield should be explored by men and women who have themselves served. The work of Waterloo Uncovered ensures that the quest to understand the past will be used to support their futures.” - Charles Wellesley, Duke of Wellington
All donations, of whatever size, will really make a difference.
Thank you very much for helping us to remember Charlie and for helping others too at this sad time.
